In the 20th century, people around the world are moving a step ahead in the technology development. Nuclear technology is not a new issue to the first world country but it is kind of new to Malaysian. The main reason why we created this blog is to give public awareness to Malaysian regarding building the first nuclear power plant in Malaysia on 2020 onwards.
Malaysia as the develop nation is moving forward to find a new alternative green energy to increase the electricity supply to the nation. Most energy today comes from burning fossil fuel (natural gas and coal) to generate electricity. As aware, fossil fuels are not renewable energy and it emits high content of carbon dioxide to the air and furthermore, to be exhausted maybe in hundreds years to come.
Malaysia is set to use nuclear power as an alternative energy source by 2025, as it is the safest, reliable and cheapest source of power in the long run. Under Economics Transformation Policy which was introduced by the Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister Malaysia stresses that the proposal to use nuclear energy is included as one of the Entry Point Projects (EPPs). Meanwhile, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) already started the nuclear power plant development since 2008 by approving three committees consists of nuclear energy taskforce, nuclear interest group, and external nuclear advisory panel.
Lastly, safety reviews have been taken into account on existing plants in line with international safety conventions and principles to ensure that safety margins of the first nuclear power plant in Malaysia is maintained.
